When is Sri Lanka diving Season?
Diving in Sri Lanka is divided into two seasons. According to the monsoon season Kalpitiya Diving Centeris operating half year in Kalpitiya on the west coast and second half of the year in Trincomalee in the east of Sri Lanka.
Two seasons
Kalpitiya
Kalpitiya Diving Center is open annually from November to April 10th, offering the best diving conditions in Sri Lanka during this period. These six months mark the peak diving season in the region, with calm seas, excellent underwater visibility, and ideal weather conditions that attract divers from all over the world.
From mid-April onward, diving in Kalpitiya becomes affected by the Northwest Monsoon, which brings stronger winds and rougher seas. As a result, diving activities shift to Sri Lanka’s east coast, particularly Trincomalee, where conditions are more favorable from April 13th to October 10th.
Trincomalee
Kalpitiya Diving Center Trincomalee is operation every year from 15th March to 30th November. In this time period you can find the best diving on the nort-east coast with calm sea and good underwater visibility. From mid November onwards the diving on the east coast is influenced by the east monsoon. The sea becomes rough, heavy rain influences the dive conditions and our diving centres in the east are closed. Then Kalpitiya Diving Center moves to the south where the south west monsoon ends at around the mid of October and the dive season starts.
