Dolphin Watching
Kalpitiya is one of Sri Lanka’s top destinations for dolphin and whale watching. From November to mid-April, you can witness large pods of dolphins gracefully dancing through the waves—an awe-inspiring sight you won’t forget.
The famous “Dolphin Line” is home to hundreds of Spinner Dolphins, frequently spotted during tours, while Humpback Dolphins also make regular appearances in these waters.
All tours are led by experienced, certified guides. Boats accommodate a maximum of 6 or 10 guests to ensure a safe and comfortable journey. Life jackets and bottled water are provided, and each tour includes an official ticket issued by the Department of Wildlife.
Planning to visit Trincomalee instead? The dolphin and whale watching season there typically runs from mid-March to the end of October. However, the best time to visit either location may vary slightly depending on weather and sea conditions.
